Utah Valley University as well as many others in the Utah Education Network, are transitioning from Blackboard Vista as their online course learning management sytem to Instructure Canvas.
Instructure Canvas Migration LOGIN TO CANVAS HERE
Utah Valley University, in connection with the Utah System of Higher Education Consortium, is excited to announce Canvas as its new learning management system. Canvas will replace Blackboard Vista for online learning activities and course content. All courses currently hosted in Blackboard Vista need to be moved to Canvas by July 1, 2012.
Visit this page often to keep up-to-date on the transition and to find resources to help you learn and use Canvas.
Why the move to Canvas?
Our current system, Blackboard Vista, will no longer be supported by Blackboard after Fall 2011. Because of this, the consortium put out a request for proposal for a new system. After using specific criteria to evaluate several different applications, Instructure’s Canvas was selected by the consortium as the new system.
Canvas offers exciting features, such as:
>> Clean, intuitive user interface, featuring drag and drop usability throughout.>> Notification options for faculty and students using Facebook, Twitter, text message and more.
>> Robust tool for migrating content (including quizzes and assignments) from Blackboard Vista.
>> Significantly faster tools for grading.
>> Wikis, RSS feeds, web conferencing integrations and more.
>> Integration with Google docs.
>> And much more.
WHAT DOES THIS MEAN FOR ME?
Simply put, it means change, but many resources are available to make it easy on you.

Starting Fall semester, online course content is moving from Blackboard to Canvas. Some courses will migrate to Canvas quicker than others so you may need to access Blackboard Vista for a semester or two. We are moving as quickly as we can to create course masterpieces in Canvas in order to give you the tools to manage classes, get real-time class updates and communicate easily with teachers and fellow students. Check out Videos and Tutorials posted by Instructure on YouTube or contact the Help Desk for additional assistance at 801-863-8888 or helpdesk@uvu.edu or walk-in to BA-007 (Basement of the Browning Administration Building).
