The vision of the Office of Academic Assessment and Program Review is to build a culture
of assessment at the institutional, college/school, department, program, and course
levels in order to enhance student learning and strengthen programs.
A culture of assessment is characterized by the regular use of assessment findings in decision-making. As effective assessment practices are understood and adopted, faculty, staff, and administrators will be more likely to use assessment findings. For example, assessment helps make program strengths and needed areas of improvement more visible in terms of student learning. This information can then be used to adjust curriculum, address faculty training needs, and modify department practices.
The Office of Academic Assessment and Program Review fosters a culture of assessment at UVU. The office facilitates use of assessment resources, assists departments in achieving assessment and accreditation goals, and helps the campus community more effectively use assessment information for decision making to enhance student learning and strengthen programs.
