1. Why do I have the hold?
A suspension hold is placed on your account after you have three consecutive semesters with a cumulative GPA below a 2.0 AND your semester GPA is below a 2.0.
NOTE: Your cumulative GPA can be below a 2.0 for multiple semesters without you being suspended AS LONG as you are getting above a 2.0 for your semester GPA. However, if you have been under a 2.0 for your cumulative for more than two semesters and your semester GPA is below a 2.0, you will be suspended.
2. How do I remove it?
When you are on suspension status, you are required to sit out for a semester. Then you may petition to return to UVU. Instructions for the petition and the form can be found here. Petition deadlines are as follows: Summer (March 1st), Fall (April 1st), and Spring (October 1st). If you want to return for fall semester, you need to turn in your petition by June 1st.
When you turn in your petition, it is reviewed by the Academic Standards office and the Academic Standards Committee (faculty commitee with members representing each college on campus). After the committee makes recommendations, you will receive a letter with the requirements you must complete in order to return to UVU. After completion of these requirements, you will meet with the Academic Standards Director to complete the process of your readmission to UVU.
