Tutor Resources

All tutors hired by the UVU Academic Tutoring Program are required to participate in the CRLA certified tutor training program. The goals of the training program are: 1) quality tutoring programs with trained tutors who have the skills to help a broad range of students, and 2) certification of the tutoring program through the College Reading and Learning Association (CRLA).

The articles you read, the discussions you engage in, and the responses you write as part of the training requirements are designed to expose you to the theoretical and practical aspects of peer tutoring. The training program will help prepare you to tutor any UVU student and will help you develop effective tutoring methods.

The tutor training and certification program consists of three levels: regular, advanced, and master. Each level will include from 10-16 hours of training. Tutors MUST complete Level 1: Regular training during their first semester of employment as a condition of continued employment.
