NCAA (National Collegiate Athletic Association)

UVU received NCAA Division I membership on July 7, 2009. Membership was granted after finishing a seven year long provisional process that ended with successful completion of the NCAA certification process. The NCAA Certification is conducted every ten years. Athletics certification is meant to ensure the NCAA's fundamental commitment to integrity in intercollegiate athletics. The program is structured to achieve its goal in several ways:
- By opening the affairs of athletics to the university community and the public.
- By setting standards (called operating principles) for the operation of Division I athletic programs.
- By putting tough sanctions in place for institutions that fail to conduct a comprehensive self-study or to correct problems.
