Deferred Admission

Plan for your future by deferring your admission

Take advantage of UVU's deferred admission program, which encourages students to be admitted now and defer their admission to a future semester.  Deferred admission was created for students who need delay their admission to a future semester for a humanitarian or religious mission, military service, health, financial, and family responsibilities.  Deferring your admission offers several advantages including:

  • Holding your scholarship
  • Receiving priority registration upon returning
  • Designating someone to register you for classes prior to your return
  • Accessing financial aid or veteran's benefits
  • Determining your future class schedule
  • If you are returning within seven semesters, you will not need to re apply for admission

NOTE: If you are a current student in at least one class at UVU who is looking to take a brief absence, you will need to complete the leave of absence application.

Steps to defer your admission

Once you have have been admitted to UVU, complete the following steps to defer your admission:

NOTE: Out-of-state tuition waivers may not be deferred. 

If you return later than the semester you designate, you may be required to reapply and pay an additional re-admission fee.   If you have any questions, contact the Director - Deferred Admission/Leave of Absence by email at deferredadmission@uvu.edu.
