For NEW Non-resident Students:

Effective July 1, 2007, students who have not attended an educational institution in Utah in the past and are not claimed on a tax return of any person who is not a resident of Utah, will be eligible to apply for residency after having lived in Utah for just one year. That means new students residing in Utah for 12 continuous months who are financially independent will be able to apply for residency as early as July 1, 2008.

Applicants will also need to have a Utah driver's license, vehicle & voter registration at least 3 months prior to applying for residency.

Applicants must be a U.S. citizen or have Permanent Resident Status.

For CURRENT Non-resident Students:

There will be no retroactive application of the 12-month waiting period. A student who has been attending UVU before July 1, 2007 may still apply for resident status upon completion of 60 credits or upon submitting documentation proving continuous residency in Utah for three years. A residency application (pdf) must be submitted, demonstrating three-year residence.

DEADLINES:

Residency application deadline for fall semester is August 1, 2007. Applications are available at One Stop (BA 106) or at residency application (pdf). P lease see how to file (pdf) for more detail on required documents.
