Academic advising at UVU is based on a collaborative split model that is directed at supporting students via intentional, personalized interactions focused on assisting in the achievement of academic, career and personal goals through the efforts of the advising services housed in student affairs and those in the academic schools and departments. In order to advance the practice of advising at UVU, the Institution has sought to clarify the roles and responsibilities of Primary (academic) and career advisors and counselors, Specialty advisors, faculty mentors and academic and Support advising units. This has been accomplished by the synergistic efforts of the Advisement Leadership Council (ALC), Advisor Training and Development (ATD), the Advisement Forum Planning Council (AFPC) and the Advisement Forum.
