Graphic Design is the study of communication using typography and imagery. The program at UVU seeks to help students develop the ability to think critically and conceptually about communication, looking at things from a marketing standpoint as well as from a creative one. Successful students learn how to solve communication problems in unique ways that resonate with the target audience. Our program prepares students for careers in traditional print design, as well as web and interactive design. Courses include instruction in typography, layout, logo and brand identity, editorial design, advertising design, image creation and manipulation, web and motion design. Software to assist in the creation of graphic design is also part of the coursework. Upon graduation, students will create a portfolio of their work and receive instruction on interviewing and presentation techniques, self-promotion, and creation of a resume to help them in their quest for employment or further education. |
