Every student must meet one of the following assessment requirements:
After submitting an application for admission to UVU, all students must complete the assessment requirements before registering for courses. Check the table below for the accepted tests scores & requirements.

ACCUPLACER the preferred method of assessment for UVU and also one of the most accessible tests nationwide. The test covers reading, mathematics, writing and language use skills. Scores are required for English and Math course placement and are required for registration.

The New Student Assessment (NSA) test usually takes about 2 hours. 3 sections: Reading test (Degrees of Reading Power), COMPASS Writing and Math sections Test results immediately printed after your test. Students may take the COMPASS test at any college offering it and have their scores faxed to the UVU Testing Services at (801)863-7815.

ACT
ENGLISH: Students with scores below 19 AND older than 3 years will be required to take the COMPASS English test and the DRP Reading test.MATH: Students with scores 18 and below AND older than 2 years will be required to take the COMPASS Math test.
SAT
SAT scores of 500 in English and/or Math (Official reports not older than 3 years are accepted, Math scores are to be no older than 2 years and verbal scores no older than 3 years)
Completed English Composition and Algebra, at another college/university with a C- or higher (verified by official college transcripts mailed directly from your previous institution to UVU Admissions).
