Mission

Community College Programs is dedicated to supporting academic departments in providing a wide range of quality academic, vocational, technical, and workforce training opportunities designed to assist students in attaining their goals, while realizing their talents and professional potential. These opportunities include Certificates of Completion, and AA, AS and AAS degrees. Community College Programs also coordinates with academic departments to offer a range of educational opportunities with a variety of innovative course delivery options during the day, evenings or weekends at multiple off-campus locations.

Bio1

Craig Klein joined Utah Valley University in the Fall of 2012, accepting the newly created position of Assistant Vice President for Community College Programs. Prior to coming to UVU, he served as Dean of Academic Affairs at two community colleges in Missouri. Before that, he was a tenured full professor of Journalism and Mass Communication at Humboldt State University in Arcata, CA. He earned his BS in Journalism from the University of Kansas, his MA in Telecommunication from Indiana University, and his doctorate in Educational Leadership-Higher Education Administration from the University of Florida.

Susan currently serves as the Director of Career and Technical Education at Utah Valley University where she leads the university’s Career and College Pathways Business Strategy-Tasked by President Holland to identify and close gaps for a seamless student transition between public and higher education into business and industry. Susan has received multiple awards of excellence, including the respected Women Tech Council Innovation Award for Educational Excellence,  but was most deeply touched and honored by a leadership council of Native Americans with the Robe of the White Raven for her dedicated efforts and support to their communities.  She is currently pursuing her doctorate at Northeastern University, Boston with the research focus of underrepresented populations in the areas of Science, Technology, Engineering and Math.

Bio1

Robert G. Burns currently serves as Director of Extended Studies. He was born, raised, and educated in the City of Boston and comes from a family of educational professionals.  Bob’s career has been focused in the education field. He has worked at Harvard University, University of Massachusetts – Amherst, Utah State University, and Salt Lake Community College before being employed at UVU. He holds an Associate Degree from The Stockbridge School of Agriculture, a Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Massachusetts - Amherst, and a Master’s Degree from Utah State University - Logan.  Awards and recognition have been received from the University Continuing Education Association, Beehive Chef’s Association, Center for Personal and Career Development, American Driver and Traffic Education Association, Utah State Office of Education-Applied Technology Education, and Professional Association of College Employees. Bob is a recipient of the UVU Vice President of Academic Affairs Award of Excellence. He is also a founding member and the current President of the Churchill Landing Sea Glass Association.

Ted currently serves as the Director of Concurrent Enrollment at Utah Valley University. This High School partnership program allows qualified students the opportunity to earn college credit. Ted is a national leader in concurrent enrollment having served as Vice President, President, and Past President of the National Alliance of Concurrent Enrollment Partnerships. He has received multiple awards of excellence, including the prestigious UVU Vice President of Academic Affairs Award of Excellence and the Larry Horyna Award for Exceptional Service to UAACCE.   He earned his Ed.D. from Montana State University in Adult and Community Education.
