China-related Career Opportunities
Working at UVU
There are several opportunities for current UVU students. There is always a possibility to apply for funds for undergraduate reserach, engaged learning, and for a position as intern for 3 credits. Sometimes there are paid positions available. Just contact the Chinese Studies Coordinator.
In 2012, 2 paid student research assistants were hired, the College hired one Assistant Professor of Chinese Studies and the Chinese Language Program hired adjunct teachers and employed visiting scholars, Fulbright Teaching Assistants and Hanban teachers.
Working in Utah
Utah's exports have doubled in the last 5 years. A huge part of this goes to China.
As a Chinese Studies Minor your career chances improve significantly. Currently a job database is set up, it will be available before end of 2012. You may also contact a Utah company on your own initiative. At the end of this page you find a ranking list of China-exporting companies in Utah.
Paid Internships in China
The China Trade Representative of the Governor's Office of Economic Development offered in a meeting in October 2012 to help with an offer of paid internships to UVU students.

15 manager positions are open in China each month on the job board of the American Chamber of Commerce
Teaching positions as English teacher in China are booming these years and this field is especially promising, since except from language proficiency no qualifications are needed and flight, accomodation and a competitive salary are offered in 151 programs from 59 different organizations.
