Traditional Chinese History Traditional Chinese History CHIN 362G (in spring 2013 double booked with HIST 420R)

The course is open for everybody and is taught in English.

Introduces the student to the broad outlines of the cultural history of traditional China from the roots of Chinese civilization (about 70,000 BCE), the earliest historical records (about 1200 BCE) up through the late imperial period (about 1644 CE).
Students can play the First Emperor, Confucius or Dschingis Khan and describe his respective contribution to Chinese history. Students will learn about the Terracotta warriors, the Great Wall, the Forbidden City etc.
