This program prepares you for career paths, that require a global perspective with a focus on China, including working in Utah companies with links to China, in international organizations, in trade, tourism, and in international companies and organizations in China, Taiwan, Hong Kong and Singapore or in Overseas Chinese communities. Become a China expert in business, politics, economics, international trade, public relations, media and film industry, human rights advocacy, or do graduate work in international studies, economics, political science, history, or communication.
The careers are numerous, just to name typical ones: managers and executives in companies or organizations with a relation to China, expatriates, quality control managers, teachers, heads of joint ventures, software and web developers, tour guides.
In this Minor, you learn to understand China, you even learn Chinese up to the 2000 or 3000 level. If you already know Chinese, you can use these language course credits or you can transform your knowledge level into course credits.
The study program is extremely interesting due to the numerous differences between the Chinese culture and the US culture, the possibilities to go to China for a summer or a term, to make an internship, to participate in research and China activities like the Chinese Lunch and other China related events at UVU.
