Communication at UVU
The mission of the Department of Communication is to help students prepare for careers that demand skills in oral, written, and visual communication in interpersonal, organizational, print, and electronic contexts. The department offers programs of study leading to Associate in Arts/Science and Bachelor of Arts/Science degrees with concentrations in Journalism, Public Relations, or Speech Communication. Communication is also available as an emphasis for a B.A. or B.S. in Integrated Studies.
The Department of Communication has been offering 4 year degrees since 2007. So far over 250 students have earned bachelor's degrees through the program. You will find UVU Comm graduates in the newsrooms and boardrooms of top companies across the country.
Within the degree program students are able to complete multiple internships for credit, giving them valuable hands-on experience in the real world. These internships help students cultivate working relationships with industry leaders and create networking opportunities for post-collegiate employment.
Student opportunities related to the Department of Communication include Lambda Pi Eta (National communication honorary society), PRSSA (Public Relations Student Society of America), The UVU Review, the Marie Clegg Jones Annual Speech Competition, and other events throughout the year.
The Deparmtent of Communication is part of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences. It is located on the second floor of the Losee Center in LC 227.
