  • Marie Clegg-Jones Speech Competition: The Marie Clegg-Jones Speech Competition is an annual spring event designed to showcase public speaking skills outside of the classroom. Students who enter are required to give a 5-7 minute speech to a panel of judges. The first prize for this completion is $500 award, while second and third place awardees receive $250 and $150, respectively.   • Bateman Case Study Competition: As described the Public Relations Student Society of America (PRSSA), the Bateman Case Study competition is the “premier national case study competition for public relations students, and gives you an opportunity to apply your classroom education and internship experiences to create and implement a full public relations campaign.” Our PRSSA chapter continues to be nationally recognized at the annual event. In 2013, our PRSSA chapter received an “honorable mention” with their “Be Cool, Not Cruel” campaign.
