Janet Colvin has worked in the field of communication for the last 20 years. She is fascinated by the different factors that affect the world of communication and all that influences our ability to communicate in the world around us.
Dr. Colvin is an associate professor and Department Chair at Utah Valley University. She graduated with a bachelor’s degree in organizational communication from Brigham Young University. She received her Masters degree and Ph.D. from the University of Utah. Though communication can be used in many different ways, the areas that most interest her are organizational, group, intercultural, and instructional communication.
She has recently published a book, and her research can also be found in academic journals and other book chapters. In addition, Dr. Colvin has presented papers at regional, national, and international conferences. She has devoted a significant amount of research time to studying peer/instructor/student relationships and intercultural communication. In addition to her research, Dr. Colvin currently serves as a member of the Naitonal Communication Association's taskforce for Interculural Communication, and recently won an award from the Utah Vally University's Board of Trustees.
