Dr. Patterson is an Assistant Professor in the Department of Communication. He has expertise in areas of organizational, health, and strategic leadership communication.
He is also an impassioned teacher of both theory and application. He is currently
teaching courses on research methods, interpersonal communication, and
communication in healthcare. They include a range of quantitative and qualitative approaches and theories including survey design, strategy, narrative, and persuasion.
Dr. Patterson completed his undergraduate work at Brigham Young University-Idaho and earned a Master’s degree from Idaho State University, a Ph.D. from Ohio University, and he completed post-doctoral work at The Ohio State University. He also has industry experience in entrepreneurial and corporate leadership positions.
He loves outdoor recreation and particularly loves spending time with his wife and four boys.
