Darrel is currently the Senior Director of Academic Outreach which includes Community
Education, Concurrent Enrollment and the Wasatch Campus. He attended Ricks College
(now BYU-Idaho), graduated from Boise State University with a B.A. and an M.A. (English)
and received his Ph.D. (Education with an Adult Education emphasis) from the University
He has been an educational entrepreneur and leader for 30 years, having served in
a variety of leadership positions, including president of two community colleges.
He has taught 9th graders, undergraduate, and graduate students. His focus has been
on community colleges, leadership, program development, and strategic planning. He
and his wife Joanne just celebrated 35 years of marriage and have two daughters and
Darrel consults with and serves on the Board of Directors of MACILE, a non-profit
organization that is developing a Center for Science, Technology, Engineering, and
Mathematics (C-STEM) in the Dominican Republic; and the Center for Creating Enterprise,
a group working with young men and women in various countries, including Mexico, and helping
them become entrepreneurs.
Ellen currently serves as the Administrative Assistant to Community College Programs,
Summer Semester, and Assessment and Academic Programs and is responsible for UVU's
State Authorization process. Prior to that she was the Coordinator of Finance and
Operations for Distance Education for 3 years. She started her career at UVU in May,
2007 as the Office Manager for Career Services and Student Employment Department.
She came to UVU with over 20 years experience in Human Resources and Administrative/Office
Management. She served as PACE Senator from 2012 to 2014 and as Advisor and Co-Advisor
to the Career Passport Club.
Ted currently serves as the Director of Concurrent Enrollment at Utah Valley University.
This High School partnership program allows qualified students the opportunity to
earn college credit. Ted is a national leader in concurrent enrollment having served
as Vice President, President, and Past President of the National Alliance of Concurrent
Enrollment Partnerships. He has received multiple awards of excellence, including
the prestigious UVU Vice President of Academic Affairs Award of Excellence and the
Larry Horyna Award for Exceptional Service to UAACCE. He earned his Ed.D. from Montana
State University in Adult and Community Education.
