Research Application Process


Prior to applying to use the CRFS as a base for research activities, please review the facilities description, visitor guidelines, the CRFS fee schedule, and the calendar indicating availability. Then follow these steps:

Obtain approval for research activities through the National Park Service:

  1. Apply for a permit at http://science.nature.nps.gov/research
    • This approval should take between 4 to 6 weeks, and is typically granted for a calendar year, or for a season. Plan ahead.

Obtain approval for use of CRFS

  1. Submit the Application for research use of the CRFS facilities.
  2. Submit Reservation Request.

Applicants will be notified via email of approval or denial of the application.

Upon Approval:

Once the above steps have been completed, you will receive the billing information via email.

  1. Submit payment for facility rental and cleaning deposit with proof of insurance (for non-UVU visitors) at least 2 weeks prior to arrival.
  2. CRFS staff will send final confirmation with information about how to schedule arrival. The confirmation letter must be shown upon check-in.
  3. All visitors must sign the visitor guideline agreement.
  4. In addition, waiver of liability or proof of insurance must be provided.
    • For UVU participants-each visitor must bring a signed waiver for the specific activity held at the CRFS (see example of UVU waiver)
    • For non-UVU visitors-the advisor must provide proof of insurance from the home institution identifying UVU as co-insured (for information or questions, contact Joe Marrott, Director, UVU Risk Management (MARROTJO@uvu.edu).
