Standard II-4. Students must have access to qualified advising when they need to make course decisions and career choices.

D. Student Advisement. Describe your system of advisement for students on how to complete the program. Indicate how you ensure that such advisement is available to all students.

Advisement in the department is handled by a full time advisor who is well acquainted with all of the requirements for the BS degree specializations or options that are available in the Computer Science department. The advisor works with students from admission to graduation in all aspects of their college career.

There are three times that a CS student is required to meet with the dept. advisor:

  1. As one of the steps to be able to register for the first time, a new student must be cleared on the computer by the dept. advisor.
  2. After completion of the pre-specialization courses, a BS degree seeking student must meet with the advisor and apply for matriculation in the program.
  3. All students must meet with the advisor to apply for graduation.
