Standard II-3. Guidance on how to complete the program must be available to all students.
C. Student Guidance. Describe what determines the requirements that a student will follow and how the student is informed of these requirements.
Requirements for graduation are determined using the ACM 2001 Standards, input from the advisory committee concerning needs of local business and industry and state curriculum requirements as guidelines. The process takes place in individual curriculum committees and in general department faculty meetings with the department advisor. All curriculum issues must be approved by a college curriculum committee. Graduation requirements are updated annually in the college catalog, on college web pages and in department literature.
During the semester in which the student wants to graduate, the student obtains an Application for Graduation form, which must be completed prior to graduation. As part of that process (step 4) the student must obtain the signature of the Departmental Advisor. The Departmental Advisor verifies that the student has completed all of the required computer science courses. The Graduation Office also conducts an audit of the student's work to make sure that no requirements have been missed. Signatures of the Departmental Advisor and a member of the Graduation Office are required to complete the process.
