UVU Physics & U of U Medicine
Come to UVU to learn how a physicist and a surgeon have teamed up to improve the effectiveness and efficiency of breast cancer surgery. Dr. Tim Doyle (UVU Department of Physics) has created a method to detect cancerous breast cells using ultrasonic technology that he developed as a rocket scientist. Dr. Leigh Neumayer (U of U School of Medicine) is helping to develop this method to identify cancer cells during surgery, to be sure she removes all of the cancer but spares the healthy cells. Come hear about this wonderful story of life-saving collaboration, and enjoy a light dessert with the speakers.
