UVU Sets New Record At Skills Competition

Last month Utah Valley University set a new institutional record at State of Utah SkillsUSA by winning gold medals in 27 different contest categories. The previous record was a win of 25 gold medals.  Counting silver and bronze, UVU took home 62 medals overall - more medals than any other post-secondary institution in the state of Utah.  Now the gold medal winners will advance to the national competition in Kansas City, Missouri, June 23-28. 

“This is just another testament about the quality of students, faculty, and programs we have here at UVU,” said Matthew Holland, UVU president. 

Listed below are the individual contests in which UVU students won Gold medals.

9. Computer Maintenance Technology – Scott Jackson
10. Crime Scene Investigation – Amanda Allred, Tristan Porter, Lena Sansom
11. Criminal Justice – Eli Robertson
12. Culinary Arts – Ashley McPherson
13. Diesel Equipment Technology – Benjamin Grimstead
