Racing for a Land-speed Record

I’m combining my experience working on small engines in my family’s business, being a member of the UVU land-speed team and earning a certificate in automotive technology at UVU to up my automotive repair and management skillset. The certificate will allow me to continue to build upon my career as a technician and, along with other UVU automotive programs, provide me with the expertise to take over and expand the family business, Small Engine Squad.

I joined the UVU land-speed racing team almost a year ago, and during the past month or so, I’ve essentially rewired the entire cockpit area of the El Camino. We hope to break into the 200 mph club during Speed Week in August 2012 out on the Salt Flats and reclaim our record by going 223 mph. Everyone on the team is kind of at the same level, but if you’re new, everyone is willing to help you out. We all work together.

My education at UVU is enabling me to make our family business more successful by providing me with the hands-on training and technological skills to take it to the next level.
