The Dance Department at Utah Valley University would like to invite you to join us on November 1, 2013 for an exciting dance workshop. Students will be introduced to the wide array of dance and dance education opportunities that our program has to offer. During the workshop, students will have the chance to take classes, meet the faculty, and see an informal showing featuring many of the performing groups at UVU. The workshop is designed to give students an experience that will communicate to them the great excitement we have for our department and the firm conviction we have that our department is going to be the place to continue their dance education. The workshop welcomes all ability levels but will be most beneficial to those contemplating a future in dance. Please email Angie Banchero–Kelleher (firstname.lastname@example.org) to reserve a spot. Space is limited, so please reserve early.
This October, UVU Department of Dance BFA Modern majors will perform Missa Brevis a masterpiece by dance pioneer Jose Limon, with internationally acclaimed modern company, Repertory Dance Theatre. Limon's monumental work is a memento to cities destroyed during WWII and to those unconquerable qualities in human beings that compel the spirit to rise in hope and to survive. Dance students participated in a four -week intensive over the summer working side by side with professional dancers and former Limon dancer, Nina Watt. This project is the second opportunity that UVU dancers have had to work with RDT, having performed Commonplace by Susan Hadley last year, these professional connections are vital to student success upon graduation. Please join RDT and UVU dancers in Missa Brevis performed at the Rose Wagner Performing Arts Center in SLC. Visit www.rdtutah.org for tickets. Student tickets are available by calling 801-355-ARTS (2787). Students need to request the student pricing and will have to show ID when picking up the tickets.
