Brad Mertz attended Brigham Young University for an undergraduate degree and master of public administration. He has worked with a number of non-profit organizations over the years as an executive director and board member. At Utah Valley University, he raises money for student athletes.
He is married to Shauna Sudbury from Sandy, Utah. They have been married for 22 years and have four very active children. Shauna coaches gymnastics at BYU. When he is not watching their kids at swim meets and other sporting events, he enjoys triathlon, skiing and snowboarding, playing with his kids, and a little ice hockey. He grew up in Canada (Raymond, Alberta) where he was taught to skate and shoot a puck at an early age.
Brad also worked in the solid waste industry for a number of years for BFI and Allied Waste (now Republic Services). He was a marketing manager and business development manager focusing on large public and private sector contracts and business acquisitions. Other work experience includes owning and operating a private gym with a focus on personal training.
Brad enjoys UVU and UVU athletics.
