Jerry Garrett
Jerry Garrett’s heart is as big as his vision for UVU. Prior to the school becoming a university, Garrett was an active member of the Planned Giving program and presented a concept of greater engagement and collaboration on campus between students the campus community and community professionals. Community leaders would share their expertise while learning about UVU’s mission, challenges and needs. At the time, this was a radical idea that seemed too costly and too difficult to implement. But understanding the benefits it would produce for the institution and community, Garrett devoted countless hours to make the exchange possible.
When the office became Gift Planning after the school became a university, Garrett picked up where he left off.
As a result, the Business & Economic Forum was held May 23. The self-supporting event was attended by 85 off-campus professionals and received high satisfactory reviews due to Garrett’s vision and commitment. The event was praised by UVU President Matthew S. Holland and now has a permanent place on the annual campus event calendar.
