Biography - Senior Director of Development

Joel comes to UVU from the American Cancer Society, where he served as the central region vice president of the Great West Division. In this position, Joel oversaw the 40 staff members covering Utah, Western Wyoming, and Nevada, who were responsible for the day-to-day patient services programs and annual giving activities of the organization. Prior to joining the society, Joel served as the assistant dean for advancement in the College of Education at the University of Utah for four years, where he worked with his colleagues in the College of Fine Arts and at the Tanner Dance program to secure a $12-million gift from the Sorenson Legacy Foundation that served as the lead gift of the Beverely Taylor Sorenson Arts and Education Complex. Joel has also worked in university advancement positions at Utah State University, George Washington University, Georgetown University, and the University of Maryland. Joel has bachelor of science and master of science degrees from Iowa State University.
