Biography - Project Manager - Special Development Initiatives
Sara Payne came to Utah Valley University after graduating from the J. Reuben Clark Law School in 2011. While in law school, Sara worked as assistant editor of the Marriott Alumni Magazine, where she edited all magazine prints, contributed articles and press releases to the school, and created all newsletter content for the Romney Institute of Public Management. Some of her articles were picked up by national trade publications. Sara also worked as a law clerk for BYU General Counsel, where she helped start the university’s comprehensive compliance program by writing published memoranda on many areas of law from the Patriot Act to cadaver acquisition. She helped recruit prospective students to BYU by traveling throughout Utah, Idaho, and Nevada on the Utah Council High School Tour presenting to high school students. In addition, she worked with the assistant dean of admissions with retention of admitted law students by planning events and managing social media presence.
Prior to law school, Sara worked as a journalist for newspapers and magazines in Utah, Texas, and New York. She graduated from Brigham Young University with a bachelor’s degree in communications with an emphasis in print journalism and a minor in music. In her spare time, Sara enjoys playing music and providing legal assistance for music and entertainment ventures. She is licensed to practice law in the state of Utah.
