Alyssa Woolstenhulme

Alyssa Woolstenhulme

Alyssa Lauren Woolstenhulme of American Fork, Utah, loves being a history major. She hopes to someday work in a library or with the national archives, preserving this nation's history. Without the Presidential Scholarship, college right after high school was impossible for her. Her parents are Brad and DeAnn Woolstenhulme.

Amber Smith

Amber Smith

Amber Smith is a dental Hygiene major from Sandy, Utah. She loves her current work as a dental assistant and is excited to continue in the field. She feels like the Presidential Scholarship is positive feedback for her, and a good motivator to work hard and succeed. She is the daughter of Dee and Marjorie Smith.

Arwen York

Arwen York

Arwen York of Payson, Utah, has benefitted from the Presidential Scholarship for three years, and she says is has been an awesome experience. A nursing major, she plans to become a family nurse practitioner so she can work in a primary care provider setting. Her husband is Garett York and her parents are Clay and Jean Cundick.

Aubrey Pimsakul

Aubrey Pimsakul

Aubrey Pimsakul is a biology major from Orem. After graduating from UVU, she plans to go on to medical school. This is her third year as a Presidential Scholarship recipient. She says it has made attaining a higher education much less stressful and given her the chance to do unpaid activities, such as job shadowing, internships and volunteering. She is the daughter of Saras and Sanya Pimsakul.

Brady Erickson

Brady Erickson

Brady Ericksen, from Spanish Fork, Utah, is studying psychology while pursuing a degree in behavioral science. After taking an introductory psychology course in high school, he finds the study of the mind compelling due to its many complexities. The Presidential Scholarship is allowing him to focus on his studies and complete his bachelor's degree. He is the son of Wendy Hemline and Daniel Ericksen.

Breanna Horito

Breanna Horito

Breanna Horito is a nursing major from Las Vegas who plans to be a labor and delivery nurse. The Presidential Scholarship has given her the chance to come to Utah and be near her sisters and family without the added school expense. She is the daughter of JoAnn and Robert Horito.

Brian Taylor

Brian Taylor

Brian Taylor of Lindon, Utah, says the Presidential Scholarship has given him direction and made his education possible. He is majoring in business management and minoring in outdoor recreation management. He is the son of Vern and Ann Christensen.

Chanel Simonich

Chanel Simonich

Chanel Simonich is from Lehi, Utah, and is majoring in behavioral science with an emphasis in social work. She wants to work for the Department of Child and Family Services and eventually become a licensed clinical social worker. She says the Presidential Scholarship has made her school experience less stressful. Her parents are John and Christine Smith.

Chilsea Gray

Chilsea Gray

Chelsea Gray came to Orem from Gilbert, Ariz., to attend UVU because of the University’s strong nursing program. Her two joys in life are infants and dancing. Her Presidential Scholarship will allow her the time to be a dedicated nursing student while also pursuing her passion in ballet. She is the daughter of Devin and Kathy Gray and is currently in her freshman year.

Christian Haroldsen

Christian Haroldsen

Christian Haroldsen of Santaquin, Utah, is a criminal justice major who wants to go into law enforcement. He would like to help others, be involved in a dynamic environment and serve the community. The Presidential Scholarship helps him financially, but it also motivates him to take his studies seriously. He is the son of Israel and Diana Haroldsen.

Christine Wasserbaech

Christine Wasserbaech

Christine Wasserbaech of Riverton, Utah, is currently an art and visual communications major, but is also exploring other majors. She hopes to one day design products for sports teams, or do the marketing for the teams and their products. The Presidential Scholarship has given her the ability to succeed at her studies. Her parents are Steven and Renee Wasserbaech.

Clark Stephens

Clark Stephens

Clark K. Stephens of Spanish Fork, Utah, has a somewhat unique combination of educational interests He’s intrigued by the sciences, both biological and physical. He likes to observe how the sciences affect actions, change and growth. He’s especially enthusiastic about UVU’s program that combines physics with computer programming. His Presidential Scholarship will allow him to remain more focused and dedicated to his studies. He’s the son of Corbett and Claudia Stephens.

Craig Brimhall

Craig Brimhall

Provo native Craig I. Brimhall is a finance major who plans on pursuing master and doctorate degrees. He wants to make a difference in the world by raising a family and helping individuals or society as a whole, and he says UVU is the springboard for his academic goals. The Presidential Scholarship has been a blessing for his family by allowing him to balance his life around school, his family, and representing UVU in intercollegiate baseball. His parents are Charles and Robyn Brimhall.

Dallan Barnes

Dallan Barnes

Dallan M. Barnes of Alpine, Utah, would like to earn a degree in mechanical engineering with an emphasis in aerospace. He hopes to eventually work for a government entity or military contractor, such as Lockheed Martin, Northrop Grumman or NASA. The Presidential Scholarship has allowed him to focus on school, and he feels it sent the message that UVU really wants him here. His parents are Jeff and Lori Barnes.

Dallin Allred

Dallin Allred

Dallin Allred, from Rocky Ridge, Utah, is a physics major who plans to build on his UVU undergraduate education by earning a master's degree and doctorate in physics. He hopes to work in energy or propulsion systems research. He says the Presidential Scholarship has been a great financial benefit and will make the next four years more meaningful. He is the son of Darrell and Evelyn Allred.

Derek Kettle

Derek Kettle

Derek Kettle of American Fork, Utah, is a biotechnology major who plans to go into the research of biomechanical limbs. He hopes to also participate in curing genetic diseases and disorders. The Presidential Scholarship is initially what piqued his interest in biotechnology and led to him attending UVU. His parents are Bryant and Karen Kettle.

Dustin Christensen

Dustin Christensen

Dustin Von Christensen, from South Weber, Utah, is majoring in biology and aims to enter the medical field in pediatrics. As someone who gives 110 percent toward everything he does, Dustin is thankful for the Presidential Scholarship because it eases the financial burden of a college education and enables him to give back to the University. Dustin also enjoys playing baseball and the piano. His parents are Michael and Chris Christensen.

Elizabeth Horton

Elizabeth Horton

As the youngest of six children in a single-parent household, Elizabeth S.J. Horton of Bountiful, Utah, says the only way she could go to college is through scholarships. She knew she needed to come to UVU and major in arts and visual communication, and says the Presidential Scholarship is an answer to prayers. After graduation, she hopes to raise a family and start her own photography business. She is the daughter of Cari Horton and Michael Horton.

Gabriella Seeley

Gabriella Seeley

Gabriella Seeley of South Jordan, Utah, loves the creative process — especially when it comes to using colors, images and fonts to design visual materials. With an associate degree already under her belt, she’s now working toward a bachelor’s degree in graphic design, a venture made possible by her Presidential Scholarship. She appreciates UVU’s graphic design program because of how it not only teaches concepts but also maximizes engaged learning opportunities. Her parents are Steve and Cyndy Seeley.

Heidi McPhie

Heidi McPhie

Heidi McPhie of Tooele, Utah, is still undecided about her major, but looking into exercise science or accounting. She plans to earn a master's degree, as well, and hopes to eventually open a performing dance studio and have a family. The Presidential Scholarship has provided a chance to excel in her education and explore her interests. Her parents are Marty and Joyce McPhie.

Jake Clark

Jake Clark

Jacob Clark of Spanish Fork, Utah, is majoring in business and is excited to explore new educational options. Jacob is thankful for the Presidential Scholarship since, with 10 siblings, it helps lighten the financial load so he can finish his schooling. Jacob plays on UVU’s rugby team and also enjoys football and baseball. His parents are Kent and Merrillyn Clark.

Jamee Jones

Jamee Jones

After graduating from UVU, Jamee Jones wants to continue her education by earning a master's degree in sociology, anthropology or psychology. The Bountiful, Utah, native is grateful she does not have to work while at college, so she can earn high grades that will get her into a good graduate school. She is the daughter of Robert and Michelle Breck.

Jamie Stanton

Jamie Stanton

Jamie Stanton of Payson, Utah, is an accounting major and a ballet artist. She hopes to travel, but then come back and settle down as a self-employed accounted who teaches ballet on the side. She loves learning and is grateful for the Presidential Scholarship because without it, her education would be on hold. She is the daughter of Todd and Janna Stanton.

Jared Norman

Jared Norman

Jared Norman of Provo, Utah, has been fascinated with graphic arts since his youth. After taking an arts class in high school, his interest expanded to arts and illustration. He plans to pursue his artistic side at UVU, with the hope that his talents will open some career doors along the way. Without his Presidential Scholarship he might not have that chance, or would have to do it as a part-time student. His parents are Kim and Julie Norman.

John Thomas

John Thomas

An Arkansas native, John Thomas spent 30 years as an accountant before cultivating his love for the culinary arts later in life. After moving to Utah in 2007, Thomas enrolled in UVU’s culinary arts program and graduated two years later with a 4.0 grade-point average. After putting his new skills to work for Sundance Resort for three years, Thomas returned to UVU as an assistant professor in the Culinary Arts Institute in 2010.

Jordan Eatough

Jordan Eatough

Jordan P. Eatough, from Provo, Utah, is focusing his studies in exercise science. After spending two years in the Dominican Republic, he would like to someday pursue a medical degree and return on humanitarian missions. He is thankful for the Presidential Scholarship because it allows him to concentrate fully on his studies. He is the son of Steven and Rae Eatough.

Jordan Walker

Jordan Walker

Jordan Kelly Walker of Payson, Utah, has always wanted to be a surgeon, and plans to attend medical school after graduating with a biology degree. She hopes to own a plastic surgery practice. The Presidential Scholarship has helped make her dreams possible. She is the daughter of Terry and Kelly Walker.

Katelyn McKell

Katelyn McKell

Orem native Katelyn McKell is interested in studying exercise science, but is still undecided about her major. She is grateful for the freedom the Presidential Scholarship gives her to explore options. It also gives her the time to participate in extracurricular activities as a member of the UVU cheer squad. Her parents are John and Wendy McKell.

Lance Merrell

Lance Merrell

With a second-place finish at state in the high jump competition by clearing the bar at 6-foot-4, Lance Merrell of Mapleton, Utah, hopes to continue his track career at UVU. What he’s really focused on, however, is becoming an attorney someday. His Presidential Scholarship allows him the time to do his daily track workouts while also keeping up with his studies in political science and saving for the expense of law school. His parents are Roger and Lana Merrell.

Lauren Fobuena

Lauren Fobuena

Lauren C. Fonbuena, from Alpine, Utah, has not yet decided on her major, but hopes to be involved in student government at UVU. With two siblings attending college simultaneously, Lauren appreciates how the Presidential Scholarship eases education costs for her parents. She is the daughter of Charles and Julie Fonbuena.

Lindsay Watson

Lindsay Watson

Digital media major Lindsay Watson of Delta, Utah, hopes to eventually be a film animator or create video games after graduating from UVU. She knows UVU will help her get a job she loves. The Presidential Scholarship gives her more time for her schoolwork. She is the daughter of John and Lyndell Watson.

Madison Heyn

Maddison Heyn

Maddison Heyn, from Lehi, Utah, is the daughter of Steve and ReNae Hardy. She is an exercise science major, and plans to become a physician’s assistant. She says the Presidential Scholarship has been a relief for her and lifted her worries about how to pay for school. She is grateful that she’s free to focus on her studies and try her best to succeed academically.

Maggie Boughton

Maggie Boughton

Maggie Boughton of American Fork, Utah, is currently a theater major, but she is looking to double major in a science field as well. She plans to earn a master's degree after graduation. No matter what she ends up doing, she says, having her degree will help her be a benefit to society. The Presidential Scholarship was a critical factor in her decisions about higher education. She is the daughter of Kristin and Kevin Boughton.

McCall Thorton

McCall Thorton

With a special talent in music, McCall Thornton of Pleasant Grove, Utah, is thankful that her Presidential Scholarship will give her time to keep up on her piano, guitar and violin skills while also excelling academically. Thornton is in her first year on the Orem campus after earning an associate degree in arts from UVU while taking college-credit courses in high school. She enjoys her science and biology classes most and hopes to someday be a dentist. Her parents are Joel and Leanne Thornton.

McKelle Hamon

McKelle Hamon

McKelle Hamson of South Jordan, Utah, hopes to be a traveling nurse after graduating with a nursing degree. She plans to go into humanitarian work, and travel to Europe and Africa to help the people there. The Presidential Scholarship has caused her to focus more on her schoolwork so she can earn good grades on the way to her goals. She is the daughter of Rod and Anita Hamson.

Megan Pemrose

Megan Penrose

Megan Penrose is a nursing major from Taylorsville, Utah. She plans to work as a registered nurse after graduation and is considering going back to school to specialize in her field. The Presidential Scholarship has been amazing, she says, and gives her the time to focus on her schooling. Her parents are Laural and Robert Penrose.

Rachel Thompson

Rachel Thompson is a fine art major from Springville, Utah. She hopes to share of her creativity by teaching art in a private studio setting after graduation. The Presidential Scholarship has been helpful because she has been able to save money in support of her artistic dream. She is the daughter of Daylor and Debi Thompson.

Sarah Clement

Sarah Clement

Sarah Clement of Lindon, Utah, is an accounting major who plans to earn a master's degree in business administration after completing her undergraduate work. She hopes to do accounting for small companies. She says the Presidential Scholarship has given her the opportunity to focus on her studies while also representing the UVU women's volleyball team as a starting middle blocker. She is the daughter of Mark and Laura Clement.

Shariann Stagg

Shariann Stagg

Shariann Stagg, from American Fork, Utah, is a mathematics major. She hopes that by educating herself she can inspire others to learn and achieve as well. The Presidential Scholarship has helped her family because her parents, Cris and Charles Stagg, are retired and on a fixed income. She is also grateful because it has expanded her experience socially and enabled her to help others.

Siera Warwick

Siera Warwick

Siera Warwick of Alpine, Utah, hopes to travel and do humanitarian work in orphanages in South America. She hopes to teach the people about better oral hygiene once she has graduated with her dental hygiene degree. The Presidential Scholarship lifted a huge burden from her, and took away her quandary of whether to work or go to school. Her parents are David and Shelley Warwick.

Stephny Elsmore is from Mona, Utah. She plans on getting her nursing degree and continuing on to graduate school so she can work as a nurse practitioner. The Presidential Scholarship allows her to work and save for her graduate education while she is here at UVU. She is the daughter of Roger and Mindy Elsmore.

Sydney Butler

Sydney Butler

Mathematics is very important to Orem native Sydney Butler. Her goal is to share her love of numbers by becoming a high school math teacher. Because of the Presidential Scholarship, she has been able to focus all her time on her studies. Her parents are York and Valerie Butler.

Whitney Colyar

Whitney Colyar

Whitney Colyar of Orem is studying to get a nursing degree so she can put her husband, Casey, through graduate school. The Presidential Scholarship clears the way for her to focus on her college education full time. She plans to have a family, but is grateful that she will always have options, if needed, when she earns a degree. She is the daughter of Justin and Rayla Dee.
