Q: How do I get paid?A: You will be paid with a check immediately after finishing the exam and survey.
Q: How long do I have to come in?
A: The study is scheduled to end Thursday, December 11th. Please come in before then.
Q: What times can I take the exam?
A: You can take the exam between 8 am and 6 pm Monday through Friday, just make an appointment (call 863-8544) before coming in.
Q: How will my information be kept confidential?
A: Your name will not be entered on your exam or financial survey. The researchers will not link your name to your results. The testing center will keep a record of who took the exam along with the scantron sheets but this will only be for financial accountability and will be destroyed when books are closed for the fiscal year.
Q: When can I find out about the results of the survey?
A: The researchers intend to present their findings at conferences as well as submit a paper for publication in academic journals.
Q: Who is conducting the research?
A: Three professors of developmental mathematics: Keith White, Melinda Nevels, and Max Aeschbacher assisted by undergraduate students.
Q: Do I have to be head of household to participate?
A: No, as long as you meet the criteria.
Q: How are potential participants selected?
A: Totally at random. A random number generator was used to located people in the phone book who were then called.
