About Us

UVU's well-rounded Electrical Automation program prepares students for work with all types of electrical and electronic automated control systems and equipment.  Students also receive training to work with hydraulic and pneumatic equipment as well as electrical wiring. In addition, students are trained and skilled in the following areas:

  • Automatic control systems
  • AC/DC control components
  • AC/DEC motors and controls
  • Computers
  • Process control equipment
  • Electrical and occupational safety

UVU EART graduates work in a wide variety of electrical and electronic related fields. Employment positions may include the following:

  • Electrician Technician
  • Maintenance Electrician
  • Industrial Electrician
  • Plant Electrician
  • Mine Electrician
  • Control Technician
  • Maintenance Technician
  • Maintenance Mechanic

Job duties may include construction, fabrication, maintenance, troubleshooting, repair, calibration, testing and design. They may work with automatic control systems, AC and DC control components, motors, programmable control, microprocessors, computers and robots. Advancement to supervisor and management positions within the electrical field is frequently available.
