Mission of Special Education Program
To prepare quality entry-level candidates for teaching students with mild to moderate disabilities in special education programs grades K-12. Students who complete our program meet the InTASC teaching standards.
UVU’s School of Education uses a specific form for lesson plans. The rubric below will be used to score your lesson plans.
Each student will create a Senior Portfolio to show the Utah State Office of Education and TEAC accreditation boards the quality and capability of our graduates. Several key assignments make up the Senior Portfolio, which is then reviewed to ensure all students have been prepared in meeting the INTASC standards.
Dispositions are important character qualities useful for success in the Special Education program and for future success as a professional educator. Once each semester, program students will complete and submit an online disposition survey. This will be done during Classroom Management I-IV.
