2007 UVU Employee Survey UVU Institutional Research
In January 2008, 4200 UVU employees were invited to participate in the first phase of the UVU community engagement survey. This survey was primarily devised to get a sense of activities and hours spent by employees in ten broad categories of engagement.
| Employee Type | # of invitations | # of responses | Final response |
| Full-time Staff | 890 | 525 | 59% |
| Contract Faculty | 456 | 247 | 54% |
| Student Employees | 1128 | 243 | 22% |
| Adjunct Faculty | 1009 | 161 | 16% |
| Part-time Staff | 717 | 150 | 21% |
| 4200 | 1326 | 32% |
Variance in response rates is likely due to: (1) availability of a reliable method for inviting participates (i.e., Groupwise Email accounts) and (2) increased investment in the results of the survey.
The survey catalogues 695,797 hours of UVU employees’ contributions to their community and the world around them, ranging from consulting and academic presentations to Sub for Santa and Cub Scouts. Although it would be dangerous to assume non-responders would have the same amount of engagement hours, the total hours reported serve as a baseline minimum.
Total hours were self-categorized into ten different groups. 35% of all hours reported fell into two groups, Academic / Creative Pursuits, and Religious / Church Service.
