Degrees

  • Associate of Science (AS) in Pre-Engineering

The Associate of Science in Pre-Engineering is a two-year degree designed to give students all of the general education requirements needed for a bachelor of science degree plus much of the first two years worth of math, science, and engineering courses a student would take during the first two years at an engineering school. With this degree showing on a student's transcript, he/she will have a better chance of having the general education courses taken at UVU be accepted by the transfer institution in order to meet their general education requirements. This degree consists of 63 credit hours. For more information, click on the UVU Catalog link below or download the program sheet PDF file linked to above.

  • Associate of Pre-Engineering (APE)

The Associate of Pre-Engineering is a two-year degree designed to give students most or all of the math, science, and engineering courses a student would take during the first two years at an engineering school. Although it does have some general education requirements, they are fewer than those required for the AS degree. If a student already has an Associate of Science degree from UVU in another subject area, he/she can still complete the APE degree. Generally students are encouraged to complete the AS degree first, and then finish the remaining requirements for the APE before transferring to the engineering school of choice (if possible), as this would put the student as close as possible to starting his/her third year in the engineering school of choice. This degree consists of 63 credit hours. For more information, click on the UVU Catalog link below.
