RCA Workout Prep


PT Requirements

Be able to successfully complete the RCA Physical Fitness Ability Test (PFAT) prior to acceptance:

  • Run 1.5 miles in less than 15 minutes
  • 35 push-ups in 1 minute, from your toes, full arm extension
  • 35 sit-ups in 1 minute

List of Pre-Requisites

  • Have a valid driver's license
  • Complete: (Must have a C- or higher)
    • ENGH 1000 or higher or equivalent Accuplacer, ACT or SAT Mathematics score.
    • MAT 0990 or higher or equivalent Accuplacer, ACT or SAT English score.
    • ESFF 1000 – Intro to Emergency Services and Ability Testing (4 credits)
    • ESFF 1120 – Principles of Fire and Emergency Services Safety Survival (3 credits)
    • ESEC 114A, 114B, 114C or EMT state certified (9 credits)

Certifications

Certifications received in RCA:  Firefighter I, Firefighter II, Hazardous Materials Awareness and Hazardous Materials Operations.

RCA Certification

A student will get RCA Certification if they achieve 80% or above on all tests, including the physical fitness tests and the State Certification tests. It is an internal document, separate from UVU requirements for graduation awarded to those that meet the minimum standards. A student can still graduate with their state certifications and not receive the “RCA Certification".

Class Schedule

RCA Night:
Monday, Wednesday, Friday 5:00 pm – 10:00 pm
Saturday 8:00 am – 5:00 pm.

These times are subject to change.

Students cannot miss any classes due to military, weddings, etc. without prior approval.
