About Our Program at Utah Valley University

Español

The Community Education ESL Program at Utah Valley University extends a warm welcome and we are very glad that you have chosen our program. Our program is unique and provides a variety of opportunities for all. We invite you to become familiar with our program and explore options for your future language education. We also hope you have a memorable experience that will provide the skills necessary to achieve your goals.

The UVU Community Education English as a Second Language (ESL) Program provides ESL instruction for resident immigrants living in the Utah Valley community.  Our program is dedicated to delivering quality and academically challenging non-credit English classes designed to help students improve their language skills in order to achieve their vocational goals and/or enter the intensive UVU ESL program to prepare them to successfully study in an American college or university.

Our adult program encourages students to interact and become familiar with interesting themes and everyday contexts. We also help students practice and reinforce their skills in reading, writing, grammar, comprehension and conversation. In addition, students will work with other university students to increase vocabulary, pronunciation and fluency.

Before students register, they must complete placement testing with ESL Program Faculty. Students will be given a grammar and writing test in addition to an oral interview. These free tests will ensure proper placement.
