UVU ESL Program Curriculum
Levels of Instruction
The UVU ESL Program has five levels of
study. Classes focus on the language necessary to successfully study
in an American college or university. Each level takes one 15-week semester (including summer)
to complete. True beginning level students need five semesters to
complete the program, while other
students need less time depending on their previous exposure to English and their initial level of placement.
All ESL Program courses count toward a student's Grade Point Average (GPA) and appear on his or her transcripts. Levels 2 through 4 are credit bearing and level 4 students can apply up to 18 credits to fulfill the foreign language requirement for an associate or bachelor degree.
