    Welcome to the Adjunct Page at the Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence!
Four core themes guide us at here at UVU, which include: student success, engaged, inclusive, and serious. To help students in engage learning, we believe the core themes should be applied to adjuncts as well as students. 
  • Student Success: UVU is a regional teaching institution focused on teaching. 
  • Engaged: Applying learning from the classroom to projects in the community. For more information, click here. 
  • Inclusive: Adjuncts sometimes feel like an outsider and an institution as large as UVU. Adjuncts are a critical component of to UVU's mission as a teaching institution. It is important adjuncts get the training and support they need to accomplish this goal. 
  • Serious: We are serious about the scholarship of teaching and learning.   

 
       

  Important Changes to Adjunct and Part-Time Policy

On February 28 2013, UVU has updated adjunct policies based on federal guidelines. Adjuncts can teach 9 credit hours in any given semester. For every 1 credit hour, it is assumed a total of 3 hours worked for that 1 credit hour a week. You can find more information on the employee tab on UVLink.com or please ask your department chair. 

Parking Regulation and Adjunct Professors
Adjuncts are required to apply for an employee parking permit every semester. Adjuncts can register for a new permit online through the parking website here. Registration is available three weeks prior to the new semester. For further details, please consult the parking website.

Adjunct and Official UVU Email 
The Faculty Center for Teaching Excellence strongly encourages adjuncts to regularly check their UVU email. As part of the UVU community, adjuncts are included in official UVU announcements and messages sent to the UVU email. The UVU email utilizes the Mircosoft Outlook application available on both Macs and PCs. Your email can also be accessed online through the email services webpage here. Your default email address is your UV ID number @uvu.edu. The default address can and should be changed. You can change your email from your UV ID number to an address that uses your name by clicking on the "personalize your account" on right side of the email services webpage and then selecting "change your email address". The password is the same your UVLink.com password.

While it is possible to forward your UVU email address to another email like gmail, it's not encouraged. Some issues exist when the UVU email is forwarded to third party email. If you would still like to set up auto-forwarding of your UVU email, please visit or call the IT Helpdesk; the phone number is (801) 863-8888 or they are located in BA-007 from 7 am - 6 pm Monday through Friday.
