THE FIRST ANNUAL SCHOLARSHIP OF TEACHING AND ENGAGEMENT CONFERENCE REQUEST FOR PROPOSALS

The First Annual Scholarship of Teaching and Engagement Conference sponsored by the Faculty Center, Faculty Senate, and Center for Engaged Learning will be held on Monday and Tuesday, April 13 and 14, 2009. The theme of this year's conference is "Learning as a Community: UVU’s Engaged Teaching Strategies”

The purpose of this conference is to come together as a community of scholars and share what we are learning about how to improve student learning and foster community engagement. Presentations should focus on scholarly work reporting on the impact of innovative teaching methods and approaches with UVU students. Such methods could include: metacognitive exercises, instructional models, problem-based learning, collaborative approaches, community engagement, global engagement, and service learning.

Submissions by adjunct and full-time faculty are welcomed. The Conference will consist of presentations, round table discussions, symposia, and poster sessions. Faculty-student joint presentations are especially encouraged. Interactive presentations are encouraged for poster and symposia proposals.

We will also be compiling an in-house summary of the presentation, so we encourage all presenters to submit a brief summary of their work, no more than 500 words.
