Need Based Scholarships

INFORMATION

To be eligible for these scholarships, you must be currently admitted to UVU, have submitted transcript(s) (either High School if just graduated or college if transferred), and have submitted ACT or SAT scores (if applicable). 

You must submit the FAFSA or FAFSA4caster for need-based scholarships.

Award notification will be sent to your myUVU email as soon as you are awarded.  Awarding will be completed by July 1st.

DETAILS

  • Need based refers to the student's inability to easily afford a college education and the expenses associated with it.
  • To submit the FAFSA 4caster, complete the form, print out the web page, write the student's UV ID at the top, and deliver the hard copy to the UVU Scholarship Office.
  • All students wanting to be considered for need-based scholarships must either complete the FAFSA or the FAFSA's 4caster.

HIGHLIGHTED SCHOLARSHIPS

Women's Success Center

  • Formerly known as Center for Personal and Career Development/Turning Point
  • This award is half tuition for one or two semesters and is not renewable
  • Priority is given to displaced homemakers, non-traditional students, single parents, children from single-parent homes, and a parent or child in a low income home.
  • Incoming freshman and transfer students.
  • Residency is required.
  • GPA required 2.5.
  • FAFSA or FAFSA's 4caster

Cultural Diversity

This scholarship is open to any student with an ethnic background.

  • This scholarship is half tuition for one or two semesters. The student may reapply.
  • Students are required to attend a three-day orientation workshop prior to the beginning of Fall Semester where additional requirements for the scholarship will be explained.
  • Incoming freshman, transfer and continuing students.
  • Residency is required.
  • GPA required 2.5.
  • FAFSA or FAFSA's 4caster
  • Requires an essay – one page providing a personal statement in which you address your own perception of your cultural identity and the impact this has had in your life.  Also, provide a short description of your cultural background and the reason you believe you are qualified to receive this scholarship. 
  • Pre-selected scholarship students must interview with the Multicultural Center for final award determination and they must also attend a three-day orientation workshop prior to the start of Fall semester.

Trio

To be eligible to apply for the TRIO Scholarship, a student MUST be a first generation student, meaning neither of your parents graduated from a college or university with a Bachelors degree and/or low-income, meaning the student is eligible for a full Pell Grant.

  • This scholarship is half tuition for one or two semesters and is not renewable.
  • First generation students.
  • Low income students.
  • Incoming freshman, transfer and continuing students.
  • Residency required.
  • 2.5 GPA required.
  • FAFSA or FAFSA's 4caster
  • Requires an essay – stating your academic goals and how you meet the low-income and/or first generation requirement. Please include the following information:
    • Do you plan to graduate from UVU?
    • Will you finish your academic plan for graduation within 6 years?
    • What is your high school academic background (i.e. what you did to increase your academic levels)?

Upward Bound/Talent Search

This scholarship is associated with Upward Bound/Talent Search Program.

  • This award is half tuition for one or two semesters and is not renewable.
  • Incoming freshman only.
  • Residency required.
  • 2.5 GPA required.
  • FAFSA or FAFSA's 4caster
