The Faculty Connections and Academic Experience Committee will soon begin the book review process for the 2014-2015 Freshman Reading Program and they are seeking book nominations from the campus community. Recommended titles should meet the following criteria:

  • Book must be affordable ($10 or less), typically a paperback.

  • Author is living and available for campus visit (and affordable!).

  • Book should carry across a variety of academic disciplines.

  • Book should capture the reader's attention quickly (within 25 pages), and be accessible to high-school graduates just beginning their college years.

  • Book should be 300 pages or LESS.

  • Must be "Utah Valley" friendly (controversial topics may be considered, but will be evaluated on language usage and content).

It's easy to nominate a book, simply fill out this form save the form to your desktop , then click the "submit by email" link at the bottom of the form when you are finished (and remember to attach the completed form to your email before you hit send).

Book nominations should be received NO LATER THAN Friday, February 15, 2013.

After receiving all nominations, the Faculty Connections and Academic Experience committee will begin the review process.  At the end of the review process, the top five book selections are forwarded to President Holland, who reads each book and makes the final Freshman Reading Program book selection.

Thank you for your recommendations and involvement in this process!
