Whether you enjoy outdoor adventures or prefer staying indoors, you can find it all in Utah Valley. Located in Orem, just 41 miles south of Salt Lake City, UVU is nestled between the beautiful Wasatch Mountains and Utah Lake. That means you can go skiing (water OR snow) year round. If outdoor activities are not your taste, there are two major malls just minutes away from campus as well as a vibrant local art and music scene.
Another major perk of living in Utah Valley is its low cost of living and access to dynamic employment and career opportunities. Utah Valley is the home to major companies such as Adobe, Novell, Tahitian Noni International, Vivint and NuSkin. The valley is also the hub of many small, growing businesses.
Orem, self-dubbed "Family City USA," is one of the safest communities in the nation. In 2010, Forbes ranked Orem as the 5th best place in the country to raise a family. Orem maintains a small-town feel while offering the amenities and recreation of a big city. The Provo-Orem metropolitan area has more than a half-million people.
Orem is also popular for its Summerfest celebration and parade which take place in
June. The Timpanogos Storytelling Festival is also quickly becoming a main attraction.
Orem has more square area of parks compared to city size than any other city in Utah.
Minor league baseball is also a part of UVU's campus. The Orem Owlz, a farm team for the Los Angeles Angels of Anaheim, play their home games on campus at Brent Brown Ballpark.
