10 Gift Ideas

This list is not a complete list of funding needs for the college, but gives some examples of some specific areas where you can make a real difference for UVU students and the University

President's Fund - donations to aid in the area of greatest need determined by the president.

General Scholarship Fund – We need many more need-based and academic scholarships for undergraduate and graduate students.

New Library – Although most of the funds necessary to build and equip the new 190,000 square foot Library have come from Utah State legislated funds, over $300,000 in additional private funds are needed to provide high quality fixtures and furnishings.

Science and Health Building Expansion – UVU has one of the highest rated and largest Science and Health programs in the state. Many more classrooms and laboratories are needed to serve students’ needs. Even though a large portion of the funds necessary for the expansion will come from the state, $15,000,000 in private funds are needed to complete the building project.

Classroom and Laboratory Enhancement - With a rapidly-expanding student body, classroom, laboratory and tech facilities are being stretched to the limit and are insufficient for future needs.

Grants for and Faculty-mentored Student Research and Service – Funds are needed to support student engaged learning projects that promote community engagement and address critical community needs.

Endowed Faculty Chairs and Professorships - An endowment can be established to maintain a professorship or department chair in the college or school of the donor's choice, $1,000,000 – 4,000,000.

Turning Point – This life-changing program helps women, especially single mothers, return to school, find child care and be provided with funding and resources to make a better life for themselves and their children through scholarships, needs clothing, and other assistance.
Center for the Advancement of Leadership - A community and campus program that brings in nationally recognized speakers to give leadership council and inspiration to the high school and college-aged leaders of tomorrow. More sponsors and donors are needed to sustain this nationally-recognized program which receives no state appropriated funds.

Campus-wide Facilities Expansion – With a burgeoning student population and the increasing community use of UVU facilities, virtually every school and college on campus needs additional space. This includes a new Business Building for the second largest School of Business in the state as well as a new Performing Arts Center to better serve the community.
