Start Something Beautiful
Beautiful Stories
Jeannette Clyde
It was the grand opening of the new UVU Library and Jeanette Clyde approached Ali Johnson about buying childrens books for the family study room. In this room, parents bring their children to the library while they study. There are bean bags, tv games, and good reading now thanks to Jeanette and her mother "Starting something Beautiful." Even though her family are already great supporters of UVU in many ways, she wanted to personally contribute what she felt was "Beautiful." Jeanettes mother loved to read and teach, and after inheriting money from her estate decided she would use it to pay a tribute to her and that passion for reading.
After discovering that Ali had what she calls "Her Grandma Collection" of childrens books that she has collected way before becoming a grandmother, they both set out to shop for just the right books. What a great day, storming all the bookstores we could reach. Barnes and Noble even contributed a few to add to Jeanettes collection. They had to be hard bound to last for many readers little fingers. Only the best Illustrations and most definitely authored by those who teach a lesson and make reading the joy that it is.
The results, a collection of books that you could spend all day looking at while @ the UVU library. She plans to purchase a unique book case to house them in and continue to add to the collection each year. Her beautiful gift will continue to give on and on. This a beautiful example of mother and daughter "Starting Something Beautiful" together.

Through "SSB" I have gained new friends, been enlightened in new ways to what is possible for me, and gained a stronger desire to do more.
Thank you for the privilege of being part of SSB. You and the ladies I have met are truly enriching my life!
