Position Summary:

Under direct supervision of the Director - Sports Information, the Assistant - Sports Information will: design brochures using Adobe InDesign; keep and record statistics at athletic contests; write press releases; cover home and away athletic sporting events; maintain and update athletic web pages.


Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
  • Act as a liaison between student athletes, coaches, and the media for sports as assigned by the Director of Sports Information. 
  • Write press releases before home and away athletic events.
  • Write post-game reports after home and away events.  
  • Assist in updating and maintaining athletics website.  
  • Complete sport specific brochures (media guides) for recruiting and media purposes. 
  • Assist game operations during on-campus athletic events, including shot clock, official game scoring, scoreboard, and post-game quotes.
  • Keep and maintain historical and statistical records of assigned sports for the NCAA. 
  • Perform miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

  • N/A

Special Requirements of the Position:
  • Uphold and abide by all NCAA regulations and Utah Valley University institutional policies and procedures. (Policy available for review in the Athletics and HR Departments).         


Graduation from an accredited institution with an associate's degree; or a combination of education and experience related to the summary of duties totaling two years.   

  • Effective oral and written communication skills. 
  • Skill in computers and computer applications, including Adobe InDesign and Adobe Photoshop. 
  • Experience in web design. 
  • General knowledge of athletics. 
  • Knowledge of NCAA rules and regulations.
