Position: Adjunct Faculty ESL

Position Summary:

Under administrative direction of the Program Director, teaches a variety of ESL courses and participates in a variety of learning environments and activities that provide opportunities for students to develop to their fullest potential and achieve their learning objectives.

Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:

Teach a variety of ESL courses which may include listening and speaking, reading and vocabulary, grammar and writing.
Prepare instructional materials and evaluate instruction and learning by means of oral, written, practical and performance tests.
Establish and maintain positive classroom environments and rapport with students and maintain accurate records involving student accountability, attendance, and performance.
Available for student consultation; attends faculty meetings; and performs other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a master's degree in TESL or linguistics with an emphasis in teaching English as a Second Language, and a minimum of one year of teaching experience.

Knowledge of subject matter and content of English as a Second Language and support courses (list as supplement on separate sheet of paper by English as a Second Language and Support Categories indicating course hours and grade received).
Skill in instructional strategies and techniques of student management, motivation, and evaluation.
Skill in curriculum and course development and evaluation.
Knowledge of current trends in education, counseling, technology, and advising.
Interpersonal problem solving, decision-making, and supervisory skills.
Ability to communicate effectively in English, orally and in writing.
