Position Summary:

Creates, manages and participates in a variety of learning environments and activities that provide opportunities for students to develop to their fullest potential and achieve their learning objectives. Participate collaboratively and professionally with other faculty and staff to promote the general well-being of the department and college/school, and collective individual interest of its staff and student body.  


Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
  • Plans, prepares, teaches, and follows an approved course of study with measurable objectives and student outcomes for each course taught.  Prepares all instructional materials (to include course syllabi, exams, readings, instructions, visual aids, and other materials) in electronic and paper formats. 40%
  • Maintains and submits accurate and current records concerning student accountability, attendance, and performance. Effectively and accurately participate in the accreditation process; supervises student teachers, field work students, and interns; performs other duties as assigned. 30%
  • Maintains currency and improve professionally in the content and pedagogy of courses taught. 10%
  • Provides service to the University and community. 10%
  • Attends assigned meetings, maintain office hours, and uphold a student centered approach to education. 10%
  • Develops positive relationships with colleagues and public school teachers and administrators and upholds professional and ethical standards. 10%

  • N/A

Special Requirements of the Position:
  • Talking; expressing or exchanging ideas by means of the spoken word.  Those activities in which they must be convey detailed or important spoken instructions to other workers accurately, loudly or quickly.
  • Hearing; perceiving the nature of sounds at normal speaking level with or without correction. Ability to receive detailed information through oral communication and to make the discriminations in sound.
  • Seeing; required to have close visual acuity to perform an activity such as: preparing and analyzing data and reports; transcribing; viewing a computer terminal; extensive inspection involving small defects, small parts, operations of machines (including inspection) or to make general observations facilities or structure (i.e. security guard, inspectors, etc.); using measurement devices; and/or assembly or fabrication parts at distance close to eye. Vision ability; close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus. 
  • Lifting; raising objects from a lower to a higher position or moving objects horizontally from position-to-position.  Identify amount of weight regularly lifted up to 10 pounds

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredoted institution with a bachelor’s  in Emergency Science or a related field and Emergency Medical Technician Intermediate or Emergency Medical Technician Instructor.  

  • Knowledge of the principles and methodology of subject matter and course content.
  • Effective interpersonal, problem-solving and decision-making skills.
  • Proven skills as a accomplish teacher/performer. 
  • Skill in effective instructional strategies and techniques.
  • Skills in assisting counselors and other department heads in maintaining an effective program.
  • Skills in recruiting, interviewing and placement of students.
