Position: Program Manager - Athletic Scholarship

Position Summary:

The Athletic Scholarship Coordinator reports directly to the Associate Athletic Director/Senior Woman Administrator and assumes administrative responsibility for the maintenance of all athletic financial aid/scholarship accounts for student-athletes in Utah Valley's 15-sport NCAA Division I Athletics Department. Duties include: advising, coordinating, and processing of all financial aid for prospective, current and transfer students, and assisting the department with all athletically related financial aid budgets.


Essential Functions, Major Duties, and/or Accountabilities:
  • Manages athletic scholarship accounts of all teams and students in the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics.

  • Advise prospective, current, and transfer students in all aspects of their financial aid opportunities.

  • Establishes a relationship of trust and openness.

  • Keeps current with all NCAA, UVU, and federal rules, regulations and requirements pertaining to athletic financial aid advisement and compliance issues in order to instruct athletes and athletic personnel.

  • Coordinates and processes individual student-athlete and team financial aid awards to insure compliance with NCAA, UVU, and federal regulations.

  • Assists athletic director and coaches with creating, evaluating, coordinating, understanding, and maintaining athletically related financial aid budgets.

  • Builds relationships and works effectively with coaches, administration, student-athletes, and other campus entities as required.

  • Demonstrates ability to work independently, analyze, and make decisions related to athletic financial aid.

  • Maintains strong coordination, organization, and communication skills to facilitate the privatization of conflicting deadlines.

  • Conducts office training on NCAA athletic financial aid compliance.

  • Sends letters offering, confirming, and revoking financial aid to current and prospective student-athletes.

  • Represents the Department of Intercollegiate Athletics at conferences, committees, community and school events, and other functions pertaining to athletic financial aid.

  • Supports and maintains all UVU and NCAA standards of ethical conduct for athletics personnel.

  • Upholds and abides by all NCAA regulations and Utah Valley University institutional policies and procedures.

  • All employees of the Athletics Department are required to uphold and abide by all NCAA regulations and UVU institutional policies and procedures (Policy available for review in the Athletics and HR Departments).

  • Performs miscellaneous job-related duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

Graduation from an accredited institution with a bachelors degree; OR any combination of education and/or experience related to the summary of duties totaling two years.

  • Ability and knowledge to advise administrators, coaches, and students on effective strategies and alternative resources for successful financial aid.
  • Knowledge of NCAA, UVU, and conference rules relating to the maintenance and awarding of athletic and federal financial aid.
  • Skill in interpersonal, problem solving, and decision-making skills.
  • Skill in the use of computers, NCAA software, and institutional software as applied to the management of student records.
  • Ability to manage and keep up-to-date financial/scholarship records.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with students, administrators, and coaches.
  • Ability to enhance overall athletic academic program and represent the department at conferences, on committees, in the community and school events and other functions pertaining to athletic financial aid.
